Backup Server Questions

Are there any setup fees?
For the per GB plans, there are no setup fees, cancellation fees, or hidden fees anywhere. Kor Computing does not believe in nickel and diming our customers.

Are there any long-term contracts?
For the per GB plans, the service is month to month. You are free to cancel at any time. For the dedicated storage plans, there is typically a small commitment period.

What Operating System do you provide for the server?
Windows 2008 R2 or CentOS 5. If you require a special build, let us know in the notes section of the order, and we will try to accommodate.

Can I host other services such as Web Hosting/E-mail/IRC/RDP?
No. Kor Computing does not permit hosted applications beyond the backup or storage-oriented software.

Do you provide discounts for large amounts of data?
If you require large data sets, see our dedicated storage plans for pricing.

Can I use my own remote server management software?
No. Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) is the only supported method to remotely manage our servers.

Can you seed load my data?
Yes. Just send us a removable USB hard drive with your data on it and we will be happy to load it on your server. Please be sure that the filesystem is formatted NTFS.

Is there a limit to the amount of storage I can use?
Yes and No. Each physical array can hold a maximum of 60TB of data. Customers with more than that can span multiple arrays; however, due to limitations in some backup software no one single folder can contain more than 40TB.

Who has access to my data?
You, our CTO, our COO, and our data center manager. No other staff have either physical or remote access to our servers.

Is there a minimum monthly fee?
Yes. There is a $25 per month minimum. This minimum is in place for customers who do not have more than 50GB worth of storage. We must provision memory and an OS license for your server even if you do not utilize it.

How soon can you have a server provisioned and ready to go?
Servers are provisioned after an order is completed. If an order is submitted during normal business hours we can usually have it ready in two to four. Orders submitted after hours will be provisioned the following business day.
